Terms of Use

Effective 25 August 2026

These terms apply to your use of QuietRedact, provided by Oskar Polster (see Imprint). By using the app you agree to use it lawfully and you remain responsible for the documents you import and export.

What is free and what requires Pro

Importing a document, automatic detection, reviewing every page, adding and removing redaction boxes by hand, and previewing the result are free and unlimited. Exporting or sharing the finished, permanently redacted file requires QuietRedact Pro.

Purchases

QuietRedact Pro is available as a monthly auto-renewing subscription, a yearly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices, the billing period and the renewal terms are shown by Apple in the purchase sheet before you confirm, and vary by storefront.

The yearly subscription includes a 7-day free trial for customers who have not used it before. No payment is taken during the trial. If it is not cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts automatically into a paid yearly subscription at the price Apple shows before purchase. The monthly subscription and the lifetime purchase do not include a trial. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial period.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your device settings under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

The lifetime option is a one-time, non-consumable unlock for the Apple Account that bought it. It is not a subscription and does not renew.

Purchases can be restored on another device with the same Apple Account using Restore Purchases in the app.

Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you are a consumer in the EU, statutory withdrawal rights apply as provided by law; note that supply of digital content begins immediately on purchase with your consent.

Your responsibility for documents

You must have the right to process the documents you import. QuietRedact is a tool that helps you remove information; it does not decide what has to be removed. Automatic detection is a convenience feature and is not guaranteed to find every piece of sensitive information — it can miss items and it can mark items that should stay visible.

Always review every page before exporting, and check the exported file before you share it. You are solely responsible for verifying that an exported document is suitable for the purpose you use it for, including any legal, regulatory or contractual redaction obligation.

How redaction works

QuietRedact rebuilds each page as a flattened image page so that covered content is not recoverable from the exported file. This applies to the exported file only. It cannot change or delete the original document, copies you made elsewhere, or metadata in files you did not process with the app.

Availability and changes

Features may change as Apple operating systems, document formats and supported languages change. The app is provided without a promise that every file, format or device will be supported. To the extent permitted by applicable law, liability is limited to damages caused intentionally or by gross negligence; mandatory statutory liability, including under consumer protection law, remains unaffected.

Apple standard terms

Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies: Apple Standard EULA.

Governing law

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
